About aware jewellery

Rachel Ashbrook is the designer behind aware jewellery. She creates unique, hand-crafted pieces of sterling silver jewellery individually designed to suit your distinctive style.

The name aware jewellery reflects an awareness of the elements of design in everything that surrounds us – both natural and man-made – and Rachel’s desire to interpret that into the jewellery she creates.

Talking to family and friends, Rachel realised that they often have trouble finding unique and imaginative jewellery, something a little different and away from the mainstream - cufflinks for women being a great example of that. As one friend said: “I know exactly what design I want, I just need someone to make it for me!” 

People are also keen to find jewellery that has a story to it, particularly locally made pieces that are individually handmade rather than mass-produced overseas.

Inspired by the desire to meet this need Rachel developed her skills and techniques by training with experienced jewellers. She was soon exhibiting in a Sydney gallery and making the first of her commissions.  She knew she was on the right track when her first customer told her: “I’ve loved showing off the jewellery I bought from you and telling people that these were handmade. I would definitely buy aware jewellery again!!!.”  Word of mouth has continued to be the driving force growing the business.

Rachel lives and works on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and her aim is to provide strong, contemporary design at an affordable price. 

Each piece of aware jewellery is made from sterling silver and semi-precious stones and is truly tailor-made to your requirements – so much so that most pieces aren’t made until you place your order. This means that your jewellery is always unique and different to each previous item.
